The only time I have paid more to a contractor than he asked. I had given up hope of getting the patio renovation done in time for the 50th anniversary celebration of my organization. Will called the Sunday before the Friday 100 guests would descend on the building and said "We've got the materials, we've got the time and the weather's going to be beautiful. We can get it done in four days." And he did. Then, when he heard the landscaping would have to wait until after the party, he spent the last afternoon getting topsoil and plants to make it looked finished. He accepted no money until everything was finished to our satisfaction.
